Guide to Powderham
Powderham is perhaps most famous for Powderham Castle and the red sandstone church that dates back to the 15th centuary. Powderham castle is not a true castle and was only built as a heavily fortified manor house by Sir Philip Courtnay and has been altered since. Today, Powderham castle is open to the general public and is host to music concerts with artists such as Elton John. There is also a secret garden to explore at the castle and there are about 600 fallow deer in the castle grounds.
The cycle trail leads to Starcross where the path is cycle paths and quiet contry roads.
